The Wines of Bordeaux

Of course, Bordeaux is primarily known worldwide for its wines. In fact, whatever direction you leave Bordeaux from, you will come across the surrounding vineyards, most notably:

  • the Médoc, between Bordeaux and the Atlantic Coast, along the Gironde estuaryChâteau d'Yquem Sauternes
  • the region of Saint-Emilion, in the east of Bordeaux
  • South, Pessac-Léognan and Sauternes.

The vineyards of Bordeaux house some of the most famous châteaux in the world, such as Margaux, Lafite-Rothschild, Latour and Mouton-Rothschild in the Médoc region, Haut-Brion in the vineyards of Pessac-Léognan, Château d’Yquem in the Sauternes, Cheval Blanc and Angelus for the wines of Saint-Emilion.

Every 2 years in June, the Bordeaux Exhibition and Convention Centre welcomes Vinexpo, the International Exhibition of Wine and Spirits, which brings together professionals from around the world. For more information: Vinexpo
